The Online Fitness Trainer Course from the Swedish Academy of Sport Training (SAST) is a professional program designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to work as fitness trainers. The course covers the fundamentals of personal training, program design, practical exercises, sports nutrition, and general fitness. It is designed to provide trainees with the scientific and practical expertise necessary to enhance performance and achieve desired results, whether working in fitness centers or pursuing a professional career in sports training. The course is suitable for all interested participants and provides a certified qualification upon passing the exams.

Eligible Participants:
You can register for the course if you meet one of the following criteria:
- Holder of a Fitness Assistant Trainer certificate.
- A student at a university, college, or institute of physical education and sports.
- Documented practical experience in fitness training of at least two years.
- A high-level athlete in any sport with documented achievements.

Duration:
The total program duration is 174 training hours, to be completed within 3 months from the registration date.
Online Study – 130 hours:
- Study the theoretical material from the scientific curriculum and course book.
- Watch instructional videos and listen to audio lectures available on the Academy’s platform.
- Complete periodic quizzes and the final theoretical exam via the Swedish Academy of Sport Training platform.
Practical Training – 40 hours:
- Perform hands-on training as a coach in a fitness center.
- Under the supervision of SAST and in collaboration with the management of fitness centers in the student’s country.
Final Practical Exam – 4 hours:
Preparation and execution of the final practical exam for the course.

Exams and Passing Requirements:
The course exams are divided into theoretical and practical tests. The exam and passing system is as follows:
1. Theoretical Exams:
All theoretical exams are conducted electronically via the platform, with random questions from a question bank based on the scientific curriculum, immediate grading, and results displayed upon completion.
Periodic Quizzes:
Students must pass mandatory quizzes for each module before proceeding to the final exam.
- Each quiz contains no more than 10 multiple-choice questions.
- Exam time is one minute per question.
- Passing score: 80%.
- Quizzes can be retaken unlimited times.
- The final theoretical exam cannot be taken until all quizzes are successfully completed.
Final Theoretical Exam:
- Students may take the final exam after passing all mandatory quizzes.
- Passing score: 60%.
- 50 multiple-choice questions with four options each.
- Exam duration: 50 minutes.
- Each student has a maximum of two attempts to pass.
- Additional attempts can be requested for $50 per attempt.
- The practical final exam cannot be taken without passing the theoretical exam.
2. Practical Training Assessment:
- 40 hours of practical training at a fitness center under direct supervision.
- Training documentation via two forms: Training Approval Form and Performance Evaluation Form.
- Forms must be signed and stamped by the fitness center.
- The final practical exam can only be taken after successful completion of practical training.
3. Final Practical Exam:
- The final practical exam includes a variety of training scenarios, and one of them is randomly selected as the subject of the trainee’s test.
- A description of the selected training scenario will be displayed at the beginning of the exam in the “Exams” section of the Academy’s platform.
- The trainee must record a video demonstrating the exercises outlined in the training program, performing them personally with a moderate load, and ensuring that no audio is recorded.
- The exam is to be carried out practically in a fitness gym for approximately 30 minutes.
- The video must then be uploaded to the Academy’s online platform to be evaluated by the examination committee.
Practical Exam Details:
- Preparation of the Training Program:
The trainee must prepare a program for one training session that includes at least 10 practical exercises based on the training scenario assigned in the exam.
The program should include an explanation of how to perform each exercise for a set of 10 repetitions using a moderate load, with a focus on precision of execution and proper exercise sequence. - Evaluation and Passing Criteria:
Performance is evaluated with a final result of either “Pass” (possibly with performance remarks) or “Fail” in the case of major errors that affect execution. - Retake Policy:
A trainee who does not pass may take an additional exam by paying a fee of 50 USD for each extra attempt. - Conditions for Taking the Practical Exam:
The final practical exam can only be taken after successfully completing all the theoretical and practical requirements of the course.
Final Grade Calculation:
Practical Exam: 50%
Theoretical Exam: 25%
Practical Training: 25%
It is not possible to pass or obtain the certificate unless the trainee successfully completes all three of the above-mentioned requirements.
All of the above exams must be completed within a maximum period of three months from the start date of the course.
Certification:
Upon successful completion of the course and passing all exams, students receive a certificate issued directly to their email and stored in their personal profile on the platform. Certificates are officially accredited by:

- Global Council of Sport Science (GCSS)
- International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE)
- Register of Exercise Professionals Tunisia (REPS Tunisia) – for Tunisian students
