Personal Trainer Course from the Swedish Academy of Sport Training (SAST)

The Personal Trainer Course from the Swedish Academy of Sport Training (SAST) offers a professional training program designed to qualify participants to work as personal trainers with high efficiency. Eligible Candidates for Registration

You can register for the course if you meet one of the following qualifications:

  1. Holder of a Fitness Trainer Certificate.
  2. Graduate of a university, college, or institute of physical education and sports.
  3. Documented practical experience in the field of fitness training of at least five years.
  4. Professional athlete (professional clubs or national teams) in a sport, with documented proof.
  5. Additionally, you must hold a First Aid Certificate and a Sports Nutrition Certificate.

Course Duration:
The total program is 284 training hours, to be completed within 6 months from registration.

1. Online Study – 194 hours:

  • Study theoretical material from the scientific curriculum and course book.
  • Follow training videos and lectures on the Academy platform.
  • Complete quizzes and the final theoretical exam on the SAST platform.

2. Practical Training – 80 hours:

  • Conduct practical training in a fitness center as a personal trainer.

3. Final Practical Exam – 10 hours:

  • Includes preparation and execution of the final practical exam.

Exams and Passing Requirements:

The course includes both theoretical and practical assessments. The exam and passing system is as follows:

1. Theoretical Exams:
All theoretical exams at SAST are conducted online via the platform, with random questions drawn from a question bank based on the course curriculum. Exams are automatically graded, and results are displayed immediately.

Quizzes:

Students must pass mandatory quizzes for each chapter before proceeding to the final exam.

  1. Each quiz contains no more than 10 multiple-choice questions.
  2. Exam time: one minute per question.
  3. Passing score: 80%.
  4. Quizzes can be retaken an unlimited number of times.

The final theoretical exam cannot be taken until all quizzes are passed.

Final Theoretical Exam:

  1. Students may take the final exam after passing all mandatory quizzes.
  2. Passing score: 60%.
  3. The exam consists of 100 multiple-choice questions with four options each.
  4. Duration: 100 minutes.
  5. Each student is allowed a maximum of two attempts to pass. Students who fail both attempts may request an additional attempt for USD 50 per attempt.
  6. The final practical exam cannot be taken unless the theoretical exam is successfully completed.

2. Practical Training Assessment:

  1. 80 hours of practical training in a fitness center as a personal trainer, under direct supervision.
  2. Training is documented using the Training Approval Form and Performance Evaluation Form, available in the Exams section.
  3. After completing the practical training, both forms must be uploaded to the Academy platform, signed and stamped by the fitness center.
  4. The final practical exam can only be taken after successful completion of practical training.

3. Final Practical Exam:

  1. The final practical exam includes a variety of training scenarios, with one randomly selected for the student.
  2. Scenario details are displayed at the start of the exam in the Exams section of the platform.
  3. The exam date is scheduled in coordination with the instructor and supervisor, and conducted live in the fitness center with camera recording.
  4. The practical exam lasts approximately 45 minutes.

The exam is conducted according to the following details:

Preparation of the Training Program:

The student must prepare a comprehensive training program suitable for the assigned scenario, including exercises, execution, and sequence in a professional, organized manner.

During the exam, the student acts as the supervising trainer, guiding a model participant, focusing on proper exercise technique, load and repetitions, accuracy, and safety according to professional standards.

6. Evaluation and Passing Criteria:

Performance is evaluated as “Pass” (with feedback) or “Fail” if there are major errors affecting execution.

7. Retake Policy:

Students who do not pass may take an additional exam for USD 50 per attempt.

8. Practical Exam Requirements:

The final practical exam can only be taken after successfully completing all prior theoretical and practical requirements.

Final Grade Calculation:

  1. Practical Exam: 50%
  2. Theoretical Exam: 25%
  3. Practical Training: 25%

Students must pass all three components to receive the certificate.

Certificate:
Upon successful completion, students receive a certificate sent to their email and stored in their profile on the Academy platform, officially accredited by:

  1. Swedish Academy of Sport Training (SAST)
  2. Global Council of Sport Science (GCSS)
  3. International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE)
  4. Register of Exercise Professionals Tunisia (REPS Tunisia) – for Tunisian students
  5. International Confederation of Registers of Exercise Professionals (ICREPs) – for Tunisian students
  6. Ministry of Professional Training and Employment (MFPE) – for Tunisian students

Stage Description
  1. Practical Training – 80 hours: Conduct practical training in a fitness center as a personal trainer, under the direct supervision of the fitness center management.
  2. Training is documented using two forms: the Training Approval Form and the Performance Evaluation Form, both available in the Exams section on the Academy platform.
  3. After completing the practical training period, both forms must be uploaded to the Academy platform and must be signed and stamped by the fitness center where the training took place.
  4. The student cannot proceed to the final practical exam unless the practical training is successfully completed.

  4. The practical exam is conducted in a fitness center for approximately 45 minutes.

The exam is conducted according to the following details:

Training Program Preparation:

The student must prepare a comprehensive training program suitable for the assigned scenario, including exercises, execution method, and sequence in a professional and organized manner.

During the exam, the student acts as the supervising trainer, guiding and monitoring a colleague acting as the trainee (model), focusing on proper technique, load and repetitions, accuracy, and movement safety according to professional standards.

Evaluation and Passing Criteria:

Performance is evaluated as either “Pass” (with possible feedback) or “Fail” if there are major errors affecting execution.

Retake Policy:

Students who do not pass may take an additional exam for a fee of USD 50 per attempt.

Practical Exam Requirements:

The final practical exam can only be taken after successfully completing all prior theoretical and practical course requirements.
